Analyze the impact of history, geography, and socio-cultural dynamics on global interactions from a variety of disciplinary perspectives
The western cultures and global perspectives course at Seton Hill expanded upon my skills to analyze historical, geographical, and socio-cultural dynamics from multiple perspectives. My courses such as History of Western Arts I and World Music pushed me to analyze these types of situations from a more global perspective. Particularly, History of Western Arts had me analyze the interactions between Rome and Greece.
My essay covers multiple artistic connections between Greece and Rome during the times of ancient civilizations. Specifically, within this essay I discuss the geographical, artistic, and religious differences between Rome and Greece. Greece was able to formulate and design beautiful bronze castings of the human figure; however, Rome chose to steal this concept, but they were unsuccessful in balancing the figures perfectly. They also did not share the same religion between the two cultures do to the separation geographically. In addition, the essay’s compare and contrast style questions allowed for me to go into to depth about the differences and connection between Rome and Greece.
Furthermore, my World Music course had me write an essay surrounding Japanese rap and how it connects to other parts of the world. I discussed how rap was made in the United States and how Japan took to the new genre and altered rhythm so that it fit the language. Within the essay I discussed if Japan’s use of rap was considered cultural appropriation. Therefore, these assignments allowed for me Analyze the impact of history, geography, and socio-cultural dynamics on global interactions from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.
Analyze current and historical events through the lens of spirituality
During my time at Seton Hill, I have been asked multiple times to analyze events from a spiritual lens. I have taken plenty of course in which I have successfully grown this skill to a new level of analyzation. Both theological and nontheological courses have encouraged me to analyze situations throughout history in a spiritual way.

Particularly, History of Western Arts I allowed me to analyze how traditioned were formed during the Middle Ages. I covered how Christianity and Catholicism had a firm hand on society during this time frame and discussed how since antiquity Rome had changed from polytheism to monotheism. Furthermore, I also discussed how faith had affected the contemporary society of the period. Depictions of the Virgin Mary, Jesus, etc. were found across Europe as well as the erection of cathedrals and churches.

In addition, the course Faith, Religion, & Society had me analyzing more current events through a more spiritual eye. In a take home essay, I discuss the topic of gun violence and how churches were reacting to these horrible events. My own thoughts and opinions were displayed throughout my answer as well as the churches comments and ideas. I wanted to communicate a fully developed thought and discussion through the use of my own analyzation and the churches.
