The Catholic social teachings have been a prominent part of my education while attending Seton Hill University. Multiple courses have discussed these teachings as well as having assignments that incorporate the CST. Both theological and non-theological courses have offered me the chance to divulge these teachings.

Particularly, within my Senior Seminar course I created a Voice Thread that analyzed my vocation, the ethical issues surrounding it, and the Catholic social teachings that relate to it. I chose to discuss the CSTs Dignity of Humans, Rights & Responsibilities, and Dignity of Work & Workers. Then, I analyzed how they related to the ethical code of conduct for my photography vocation, commenting upon their significance to sexism, racism, agism, etc. within this field of work. Furthermore, the responsibilities people hold as photographers and what ethical ground we need to maintain.

In addition, my final poster for my Faith, Religion, & Society course discusses the heavy topic of the death penalty. The students were asked to create an artifact that connected to their argumentative research paper. This project was meant to highlight the stance the partners took within their papers as well as the connection to the CSTs they chose. My partner and I agreed with the Catholic church and chose to side that the death penalty is in fact unethical. My poster highlights this stance and the feelings of the church.
Recognize the value of diverse spiritual and religious perspectives
As a Seton Hill student I have been asked to view the world from multiple angles so that I might understand everyone else’s beliefs, morals, and values as well as situations. Multiple courses have allowed me to step outside of my own box to view the world with a new set of eyes and gain this newfound understanding.

During my Christian Scriptures course, I was asked about faith a couple of times and how I particularly viewed it. Within my first project I was able to explore my own meaning of faith as well as others. The assignment had me read over multiple articles that discussed other’s ideas and concepts of faith giving me the opportunity to understand their ideas and outlooks.

Furthermore, My Philosophy course here at Seton Hill allowed me to express my own thoughts and opinions in addition to newfound concepts of hereditary connections. For this theme paper we covered a couple journals discussing the idea of hereditary actions and how that relates to our own morals as independent humans.
